World Bee Day
May 23 at 12:00pm - 3:00pm
Come spend the May long weekend with the Cowichan Valley Earth Guardians and the Cowichan Green Community and celebrate our Vancouver Island Bee species!
The World Bee Day celebrations at Kin Park will feature a workshop given by 14 year old Earth Guardian Indigo Robinson who has been beekeeping on Many Hands Farm for 6 years. Learn some of the basics beekeeping equipment necessary as well as challengers local beekeepers face and take a peak in the observation hive.
The celebrations will also feature the repainting of the Pool Building at Kin Park. During the World Bee Day the Cowichan Valley Earth Guardians and the Cowichan Green Community are inviting the public to help complete the new Bee and pollinator themed mural on the Pool Building.
The event will be at Kin Park from 12:00-3:00PM on May 23, 2020. Workshop times are soon to be posted but mural painting and booths will be offered during the entirety of the event.
Our goal is to educate young people in farming and gardening, and demonstrate growing healthy food in the city. It is important for us to link the people of the Cowichan Valley to local food sources. We want to increase the opportunities for youth to gain work experience, and we hope to fuel the sustainable growing movement, promote community wellness, and for us all to share a brighter future. Welcome to the park!
We rely on volunteers and student groups to help us build and maintain our farm. If you are interested in joining us in our work, or would like to schedule a workshop, work party, service day or tour, please send an email (email@example.com) or message us here!
