VinoSpa Speaks Out: A Veteran’s Perspective

VinoSpa Speaks Out will run from 11 am to 2 pm, with a fully catered meal, gift, and welcome beverage included in the cost of your ticket.

This edition of VinoSpa Speaks Out Series focuses in on the impact on those who serve and their family when returning home to their community, and the perspective of what happens when a they “stop” the service. To provide a personal perspective and insights, VinoSpa has invited decorated Veteran Sergeant Major Tim (Gunny) Turner to share his story as a Canadian soldier and the impact his experiences have on his life and his family

Although there are many resources available to assist in the transition to civilian life, there are still those lost in our community who continue to suffer from mental and physical illnesses that often lead to an inability to cope in society and homelessness. It is estimated that over 90% of those who served as military and first responders suffer from a form of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder “PTSD”, resulting in an inability to seek out and use these resources.

The event will also have a panel of specialists including Cpl. Victoria (Tori) Cliffe of the RCMP and Canadian military spouse Karen Turner. This panel will offer insights to their experience working with these veterans, resources available and answer your questions on how we, as a community, can support those who served.
