THE BEHOLDER’S SHARE

As well as original two-dimensional printed, dyed and stitched textiles and paper, the focus of this special art show by Shannon Wardroper features large-scale folded textile sculptures inspired by the “choice versus chance” fortune telling game that children play. This idea of choice versus chance could be applied to the environmental world, said Wardroper. “It is our engagement with our natural world and the paths we mindfully choose that will determine our outcome.”

Shannon Wardroper lives on Salt Spring Island and has a degrees from the Alberta College of Art and Emily Carr College of Art as well as a master’s degree in arts education from Simon Fraser University. She lived abroad for over a decade, studying, teaching and exhibiting in Japan, Thailand and the U.K. with sojourns throughout Southeast Asia.

Gallery Hours: Monday to Friday 11am – 4pm, Saturday noon – 4pm.
