The May 4th concert of the Cowichan Consort Orchestra and Choir will feature the premiere for southern Vancouver Island of Norway’s Ola Gjeilo’s beautiful music The Sunrise Mass. Also on the program is Beethoven’s Calm Seas and Prosperous Voyage, music by Verdi, Rosa, Rutter, Jeffers, McKennitt, Strauss, Mascagni, and Grieg, If you enjoy Sir Karl Jenkins music, you will enjoy the music of Ola Gjeilo, very soothing and with a modern touch. With the theme of the earth, nature, and the forces around us, the evening’s program of music was carefully selected with this in mind. Pippa Williams conducts.
