Celebrating Stewardship with Project Watershed
Project Watershed is thrilled to announce their 30th-anniversary event. We will be celebrating three decades of our environmental stewardship and paying homage to the traditional stewardship of this land. This public event will take place on May 27th from 1:00-4:00 pm at the K’ómoks Band Hall.
“We welcome everyone to this milestone celebration. Community is an essential component of our work, and we look forward to meeting and interacting with friends new and old.” said Kathy Haigh, Chair of Project Watershed.
The open house-style event will provide an opportunity for attendees to engage with the Project Watershed team and learn about their latest projects including updates about Kus-kus-sum. Caitlin Pierzchalski, Executive Director, added, “We’re excited to commemorate our 30th year of stewardship with the community of people who have made our work possible. Our organization continues to be committed to making a positive impact for both our environment and the people living within it.”
In addition to the brand-new displays showcasing their work, Project Watershed has planned a variety of games and activities for attendees of all ages, including building an ancient fish trap model, a streamside habitat journey, an ocean Plinko-style game and more. There will also be door prizes, giveaways, and a performance by the Watershed Band.
“This family-friendly event promises to be an afternoon filled with education, entertainment, and celebration. Come out, enjoy locally made snacks and beverages including bannock and jam, and participate in the festivities.” said Caila Holbrook, Manager of Education and Outreach, adding that “donations will be gratefully accepted at the event.”
